Spill Blanket

Unreleased LP circa '94
Throughout the 90s the Downtown Performance Center was the best place to see shows in Tucson and proprietor, Steve Eye, brought some of the best bands touring the nation to this venue. One of the more interesting local bands that played there regularly was Spill Blanket. They started as a pretty horrible funk-punk band that formed out of the ashes of the Rhythm Squids and went on to become a very unique band exploring sonic territory that was influenced by Quicksand and would be echoed by bands like At The Drive In many years later. I never got to see them in their later years and didn’t hear this album until about five years after they split up. I was blown away when I did finally hear it and kicked myself for missing them in their prime. As far as I know this recording never saw release in any format. There are some youtube videos of these songs, but none are of their wild theatrical live shows. Members went on to play in equally as good bands like Absinthe, Hobart, Unified Field Theory, Found Dead On The Phone, Staircase Wit, Waffle Butt, The F.A.N.S.S. and Birds Ate My Face to name a few. Bassist, Brandon, is currently playing drums in Kamikaze Autopilot.
